Our Story

A Journey of Hope and Empowerment At Auspicious Futures Initiatives (AFI), we are driven by a deep belief in the transformative power of education, innovation, and opportunity. Our story began with a singular vision: to bridge the education gap and promote innovation in refugee communities and other underserved populations, ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward a brighter future.

The Beginning

Following the Covid-19 Pandemic that greatly affected major UNHCR and other International Organization’s relief programmes that offered basic services to refugees and other underserved communities, a group of passionate individuals from various sectors, including education, technology, and social impact, came together in 2021 and formed AFI. We were united by the recognition that the aftermath of the pandemic highlighted a big gap in the education sector, especially for refugees and other underserved communities where thousands of individuals in refugee camps lack access to the critical resources they need to build a better future. From education and mentorship to innovation and technological advancement, the absence of these tools creates barriers that are often insurmountable.

This realization led to the founding of AFI, where members (the majority are former beneficiaries of UNHCR scholarships), designed a mission focused on creating supplementary alumni led refugee self-help education initiatives and more advocacy for opportunities that bridge these gaps through mentorships, internships, scholarships, skills development and the mobilization of resources for innovation and technology.

Core Objectives

1. Promote Access to Quality Education;

Provide scholarships and learning resources to refugees and other underserved communities.
Establish or support schools and learning centers in marginalized areas.
Implement programs to enhance literacy and numeracy skills for children and adults.

2. Foster Innovation in Education;
Create innovation hubs equipped with technology for digital and STEM education.
Introduce coding, robotics, and entrepreneurship programs for youth.
Partner with educational institutions to integrate innovative teaching methodologies.

3. Drive Skills Development and Employability;
Promoting talents by Identifying refugee youth and nurturing their craft-making talents through targeted skills development programs, offering training, resources, and market access to enhance their craftsmanship, foster entrepreneurial skills, and create sustainable livelihoods.
Provide vocational training in carpentry, tailoring, technology, and agriculture.
Provide English language training to refugees from non-English speaking education backgrounds.
Develop entrepreneurship and business skills workshops to empower individuals to start businesses.
Create mentorship programs linking youth with industry professionals..
Offer certifications in technical and life skills to enhance employability.

4. Empower Teachers and Educators;
Offer training programs to equip educators with modern teaching techniques.
Provide workshops and seminars on innovative and inclusive education.
Recognize and reward educators who inspire innovation and creativity.
